Most people accept work and take it for granted, like the air we breath

It’s true that throughout the history of humanity, we’ve always worked. But it seems socially unacceptable to say that work warrants suicidality, despite work places being toxic and causing irrevesible health issues to workers. I always hear stuff like «If work stresses you too much, then get a hobby and you’ll feel better», but you can’t afford a hobby time-wise and energy-wise if you spend all your physical and mental resources on work, there’s nothing left for hobbies; and all in all, I’d rather work in a democratic and respectful environment and I would never need a hobby. Stating that “that’s life” only admits that people are doomed to suffer for the rest of their lives.

Yes this is correct. Work is basically slavery. It is awful. But we have been conditioned into viewing it like religious devotion. It is viewed as good to suffer from work. And it is the highest basphemy against this modern religious order to say, simply, «I hate work.»

Just try it. Say «All work sucks» to someone. See how people contort themselves philosophically to defend this “striving” belief system.

Don’t you find it absurd that with 21st century technology yet working conditions hardly improved much for most people? Who would have ever thought that technologies such as automation and AI are feared for the reason of job loss when it should be welcomed and embraced. Capitalism is not the main cause of people disliking work. The real problem is overpopulation. Just imagine a world where global population remained at pre 1900 levels and having the tech that we have. Nobody would be doing low paying jobs with terrible working conditions. Most of these jobs would be automated away anyway.

As much as I hate capitalism, it is only a system for distribution scarce resources and an unfair one at that. The global race to the bottom in terms of working conditions is only made possible due to the huge global population. Back in the age of hunters and gatherers, people only “work” for a couple of hours a day. That is only made possible because the global population is about a million or so. One could easily find food without much effort.

If there were 8 billions hunter and gatherers, everyone would be working 24/7 everyday finding food and killing each other for little that is available. It is what is known as competition. Less people equals less competition and more to go around. Doesn’t take a PHD doctorate to figure this out. This is natural selection working at this finest. Life is all about finding scarce resources to sustain itself.

Work is not the problem, the real problem is competition and lots of it. A lower global population means better jobs and better lives for everyone. Unless you are part of the capitalist elite such as Musk who profits off of a having large population. The danger of capitalism that I see is the propaganda war they are waging with the narrative of underpopulation. They are now trying to justify this propaganda through Longtermism, a tech evangelical view of the universe where one part of the plan is to have 10^58 digital people living in the universe in the far future.
