Have you ever had a crushingly agonizing crush?

Limerence is a powerful thing. The dopamine highs from it are so intense. I prefer to just admire from afar at this point. The reality of someone is always a sobering letdown.

When that reality hits, it’s also quite rough.

I remember crushing on a girl a few months ago, and when we were riding back home, she crumpled up a McDonalds bag and tossed out of her car window.

From that moment on, it became a question of: “should I be attracted to this person?” (spoiler alert: the answer ended up being “no” lol)

Focusing on the negative traits of a person is a good way to get over limerance. When i was crushing hard on a coworker i focused on the fact she was a smoker.

I relate to this. Reality is always a letdown. My world primarily consists of intimate and meaningful connections with the wonderful, 3-dimensional characters that live in my head.

Yes, I had a powerful crush once. But it was in my head, a pure phantasy. When I’m with him physically I don’t feel a thing and I have nothing to say. I (as a schizoid) can relate and have feelings towards people only in my head, I cannot invest feelings in the outer world. The connection is lost.

Crushes were about all I had for the first 25 years of my life. Worst part about them is not knowing what to do with them, how to navigate them, and not having social skills to do anything productive with them. They really are fantasy gone wild though to the point you feel delusional and intoxicated.

I don’t even want to recount the dumb shit crushes will make you think, feel and do. All I can say is do your best to stay levelheaded and mindful of your actions. For the lucky ones who act and are rewarded by that person, you are to be envied.
