Do you think schizoid can be “fixed”?

u/Fun_Researcher4035, r/Schizoid

Anyone genuinely believes that schizoid can be truly fixed, cured or minimized; or is this something we’re going to live with forever?

I personally don’t think it can be “fixed” but i think it can be somewhat managed. On that note… Anyone knows how to manage it?… 😭

I’m on the side it can’t be. You can fix a broken arm, but you can’t “fix” a missing limb; you can manage/adapt around that though. Sure, in far future, if we manage to regrow limbs, I’d like to think all other PDs/maladies can be fixed likewise, but not as we currently know it.

I like being alone, as I’m not distressed/depressed/“cursed” when I’m in that situation, so I do what I can to be in that situation as best.

Comments here saying schizoid means being afraid of interpersonal interactions but that’s weird since I have no trauma nor fear, I just don’t care about people and have been like this since my teens. I was a somewhat normal child though.

Unfortunately i don’t think so, i am in therapy since 2006/2007 and still i am not improved even a bit with this disorder, and i have changed doctor and drugs several times…

The only reason a schizoid would want to be “fixed”, is if he/she perceives external benefits from doing so, such as wealth/status/mating opportunities. But taking that path doesn’t really result in healthy change, it results in pretending to change for the sake of the benefits, which from a mental health standpoint is likely worse than just accepting the condition and forgoing the benefits.

I’d say no – you simply gaslight yourself or allow yourself to be manipulated into an entirely different person.

I’m one that has zero interest in treatment or changing. I don’t like people and there is zero reason to force myself to tolerate them.

Right! “Fixed” implies we’re broken and society isn’t shitty and doesn’t have ridiculous ideals.
