For the situations where one is forced to use modern crappy software and/or if you want a ready-to-go solution, this is the new big outstanding thing. Isn’t that an obvious thing to do?: a working WM that out of the box has tiling, and you can switch tiling on and off. So you don’t need to program a configuration file which is more a source code than anything else, just to open some goddamn windows…

Kudos to System76. Problem is they are still migrating away from GNOME and that’s no quick task.
